Settling In

Our new home is coming together little by little. We’ve been here for almost 4 months now, though it seems like much longer. When we first moved in, we hit the ground running with unpacking and organizing and decorating.

It’s easy to get excited about outfitting a new place. There’s so much we want to do here. We decided to focus on our bedroom first because that’s main haven.

Headboard >> Wayfair

Nightstands >> Marshalls

Sheepskin rugs >> ROSS

Bench >> Tuesday Morning

We're still trying to figure out the living room and have a few things to find that will make it complete. We bought a rug and were gifted a TV. We didn’t have a TV at our last place. No one could believe it. It’s been a long long time since I’ve owned one.

Most of our space is put together with minor details and styling needed throughout. We want to turn the 3rd (bed)room into a Zen Room where I’ll have a small desk and study area, yoga and meditation room. I can’t wait! I’m also super stoked about the building out back that we have turned into our very own Studio. I’ve dreamt of my own art space for nearly 15 years!!

We definitely love our new place and the neighborhood is so wonderful. On our very first day, neighbors were hollering “Welcome to the neighborhood!” - “Glad you’re here!” and lending a hand. … #dreamcometrue

For the first time in a while, a place feels like home. I’m so thankful for the places I’ve been able to stay over the last few years. Thankful for those who took me in, gave me space in their lives, and then watched me journey on. So much growth has happened. And now, it’s time to settle.

Wanderlust may run through my veins but constancy is at my core.

Settling in is an art form. It takes some creativity and planning. You try things out, see how it works, and change something when necessary - try something else out.

What does it mean to settle in?

To get comfortable?…create a rhythm?…have a routine?

For me, it’s figuring out what works best and yes, finding that rhythm. It doesn’t look the same for everyone. Whether you’re decorating your space and arranging items or trekking through life, it all depends on your dynamics and finding how you operate at your best.

Take time to figure that out. Learn from your mistakes and see them as opportunities for growth and improvement. (tweet that)

When it comes to designing your home or your life, how are you making it your own? Are you adding personal touches and designing the space or life you want to live? What steps do you need to take to get where you want to be?

Your career path, your romantic or non-romantic life, your educational track, your family life, your goals and dreams will unfold differently than someone else's. No need to compare.
